My first blog post here and I thought I would introduce myself, before I provide plenty of computer networking advice.

My first computer didn’t do any networking at all, and that was back in the Sinclair Spectrum 48k days, then I upgraded to an Atari STe, followed by a series of IBM compatible machines. I’ve used the x86, 286 and so on up until this dual core laptop that I’m typing on.

In the work environment I’ve also used Apple, Unix and Linux systems as well as Microsoft Windows servers and desktops.

I’ve setup both home and work networks, including dealing with VPN and virtual machines, as well as server environments, with switches etc amongst other technology.

So my network experience is vast and I felt it was time to start blogging about computer networking. Plus this blog will act as a knowledge base for me, to save me having to remember settings or review notes!

So whether you are interested in home networking or using a network in an organisation, I hope you find some useful content here.

Right enough of an introduction, it is time to make a strong mug of tea. So please take a moment to subscribe to the blog, and I will start publishing blog posts in a week or so.
